About this deal

Once I've reached this point and I go into my settings on my phone, it will not allow me to activate the button to allow media playing from my phone, like its being told not to allow it from the van I assume? I think we have also covered elsewhere on the forum that the RNS510 is pretty slow to boot up and the navigation is not a slick as some more modern units, however it is so nice to have it fully integrated.

Its easy just take out the stereo unit, be careful not to set off the airbag light or it will need resetting. We love the Hard disk feature of the RNS510, so we can have almost our entire CD collection available.

You can also use the BT interface to play audio from your phone, but this generation of VW ICE doesn't have the ability to show BT track info on the head unit or pass controls (eg.

The unit works well at low volume but there is a bit of interference at high volumes between track that are playing. I did it on a Golf MK5 2006 before with one of the XCarlink modules and that worked allowing usb, SD card and aux out/in. To get the 'proper' VW Bluetooth system up and running you need one of the following: a touchscreen radio headunit (RCD-510, RNS-310, RNS-510), a multifunction steering wheel, or a highline cluster. Also not all bluetooth modules play nice with the VW headunits except if its OEM and those again are a bit of a pain to install and are on the expensive side. I've read various conflicting things and I know what year the car is and colour of MFD can make a difference.

So, what I am looking to do is connect my iPhone 5s to the stereo system to play music via Bluetooth. Just make sure you get one that has the can bus feature so that you can have the steering controls and dashboard info maintained. You'll also need a steering wheel with the telephone functions on it, and finally you'll need to code in the 'bluetooth' accessory for the radio (and whatever changes need coding for the steering wheel). After trying to connect my phone and writing on other forums I have found out that I do not have the bluetooth module in my car (Unfortunately).
